Thought you guys would enjoy reading this. And yes, this type of letter is why I always have to do the run again next year, and next year…..
David Summerfield – Race Director Bridger Ridge Run
Jan and I are still basking in the afterglow of pride after completing BRR 2012. It was one of the most exhilarating things we’ve ever done. We took about 50 pictures along the way — will attach a few. My one big regret is that I didn’t have a picture taken of me striking a Usain Bolt pose after my 8 hrs 4 min 34 seconds finish.
You and your volunteers are great. We were especially blessed to get to meet Boz when he arrived at Fairy Lake with chemical toilets Thursday evening, and you, at the orientation meeting, and _______ (MSU professor of clarinet) who hitched a ride with us Saturday morning from the M, and ________ (Celia? Kathy?) who drove our vehicle from Fairly L. back to the M for us on Saturday. Special thanks to the four of you for all the help. Please extend our thanks and appreciation to the guy playing the mandolin in the woods just above the Ross Pass aid station, and everybody who hung in there late in the day with encouragement and refreshments for us stragglers.
Basking in the luxury of the Hampton Inn instead of our tent on Friday and Saturday nights was a real gift . . . thanks again for making that possible, David. The after-party was fun and Jan’s name being the first one drawn for a prize was kinda over-the-top; we were thinking, how much more fun can it get? how much luckier/more blessed can we get? She’s pleased to own a pack that once belonged to you, and we were both awed to have Mike Wolfe come along and sit at our table, and Mike Foote right behind us. We also enjoyed conversation with four friendly Bozeman runners at that table.
It truly was a magical time. Thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing David. It’s all of the good people that make this run what it is. Everyone that helps, and everyone that runs. The people we meet along the way make it so worthwhile. It’s way more than just a run.
