Fairy Lake Road Expected to Open Mid July – Update: Now Open

Update: Fairy Lake Road Now Open All the Way Up.

Recently, I drove all the way up to the Fairy Lake campground. The road is in decent shape. I suspect the road is now open for the summer.

But with the Forest Service, you just never know. Perhaps they could temporary close it for short spells as there is still some logging and tree clearing going on near the campground.

For those of you interested in training on the first part of the Ridge Run course, you will have to either wait for a few more weeks; or add an additional 3.5 miles to your training route.

The forest service does not expect to open the road all the way up to the Fairy Lake campground until mid-July. Currently, the Fairy Lake road is open to about the half-way point up from highway 86. This leaves another 3.5 miles or so of closed road you must run up before you reach the Sacajawea trail head (which is the start of the course).
