My Training Mid February

So far this year my training has consisted of 10 to 15 miles a week. Those miles mainly easy sojourns of no more than a few miles at a time sprinkled with some uphill power walking and hill repeats.

First Long Trail Run of 2011

Finally, yesterday Saturday Feb 12, I did my first long trail run of the year. Kirk Keller had recently claimed that the terrain out by Three Forks was free of snow. So off I go to explore.

After a two hour run in the mud, snow, ice and fierce winds, I could only conclude, Kirk must have been describing some other area by Three Forks then where I went!

Despite the challenging conditions, I’m glad I got out. A small pack of coyotes galloping effortlessly ahead of me as I would draw near, inspired me to keep moving. Now, my quads and shins are experiencing that sweet tinge of soreness from my first long run and bout of downhill running of the year!

From now on, I’m only going to blog about my training when there is something significant to say.
