My Training Begins

I plan to post a summary of my training each week leading up to the Bridger Ridge Run. This is so anyone who is interested can follow along. I’m sure there will be some weeks that I will forget to blog or may not have a chance, so multiple weeks may be combined in a single entry. We will see.

My training goals are to:

  • Maintain fitness
  • Maximize potential for doing a fast Ridge Run
  • Avoiding injury
  • Having Fun
  • Socializing

What will become apparent is just how little I actually train – especially in the winter, when trail running gives way to skiing.

I do not belong to any gym or athletic club so I am not a gym rat. I also avoid running on the roads, because I do not like wrestling with vehicular traffic. My knees prevent me from bicycling so there will be no mention of that in my training summaries. Skiing is still one of my loves so I will include that in my summaries. I downhill and backcountry ski and will list it as training. I detest the whole skate ski x-country ski on prepared track scene, so there will be none of that in my training regimen.
